Muros-Noia Estuary Way
Camiño de Santiago pola Ría de Muros e Noia
Rois · Brión · Ames
The Muros-Noia Estuary Way is the most recently recognised Camino de Santiago in the geodestination and the only one that arrives in Santiago from western Galicia. It revives the medieval tradition of pilgrims arriving by sea to the estuary. The route is Y-shaped: one branch from Muros in the north and another from Porto do Son in the south, joining at Noia. From there it crosses Lousame and heads inland through rural Galicia via Rois, Brión, and Ames. The coastal stretch along the estuary — one of the best preserved in Galicia — alternates spectacular coastal scenery with traditional inland villages.
Highlights
- Medieval Bridge of Pontenfonso (Lousame)
- Rois — passage through the geodestination interior
- Brión — coastal gateway
- A Ponte Maceira (Ames-Negreira)
