Way to Finisterre-Muxía
Camiño de Fisterra e Muxía
Ames · Negreira · Santa Comba
The Way to Finisterre-Muxía is the only Camino de Santiago that departs from Santiago de Compostela heading westward, toward what the ancients called the end of the world. Pilgrims who completed the journey to Compostela would extend their pilgrimage to Cape Finisterre to burn their old clothes as a symbol of purification and renewal. In the Terras de Santiago geodestination, the first stage (21.3 km) crosses Ames and the iconic Ponte Maceira bridge before reaching Negreira with its Pazo del Cotón. From there the route continues toward Santa Comba and the forests of the Xallas river toward the Atlantic.
Highlights
- A Ponte Maceira (Ames-Negreira)
